South Padre Island

Phil and I were able to spend 2 nights on South Padre Island before returning home. It is beautiful and the beach was incredible. Perfect temperatures, sand and water.... as you can imagine, Julie was in heaven! Nicole, Zach and Roman spent one night there... to celebrate their 4th anniversary. We had a fun time on the beach, Roman LOVES water... not so fond of the sand! We were hoping to have Tyler and Lindy join us... at least for dinner, but work called them, and they answered! We drove back to Mission on our last night on the Island so that we could see them one last time, as our flight went out of Houston.

This was our view off of our room's balcony... not too bad huh?

Julie couldn't be happier... In fact... maybe I'll stay!

Roman's private swimming hole... as long as we kept it full, he was very happy! If we slacked off, he would remind us by saying: "Hay! More Water!"

It looks like Phil was being careful... but the sunburn he came home with says maybe not!

Our best Castle builders!

Phil and Julie, Loving the sun!

Nicole and Zach: Happy Anniversary!

Bompa is Roman's favorite playmate! I think that Bompa would say the same! They had a wonderful time playing in the water, collecting sea shells, and playing ball!

Doesn't every grandchild need a giant Elmo Piniata? I'm sure that this is pay back for something! Roman loved it though... we'll see how he feels about hitting it with a stick on his birthday....

All in all... we had a fabulous trip filled with work and play and family!
We miss you:
Nicole, Tyler, Zach, Lindy and Roman!
We love you and look forward to another visit very soon.

Our Day in Mexico

I don't know if Mexico was ready for us... but here we are! While we were waiting for the truck to deliver the furniture, we made a trip to Progresso Mexico. It is very close to where Tyler and Lindy are living, and we had a very fun day! The only glitch... we forgot to take our birth certificates and almost ended up living there! OOPS... I still am not sure what we were thinking, and our passports were in the car... in the parking lot. Luckily, our tans weren't so dark that we were taken to be natives, and they let us through the border with our fun purchases! Way better than Tijuana... there was no line... no wait... we will definitely go back!

Phil's very incognito sombrero... Good for sun, rain or bomb shelter!

Their Apartment

The apartment turned out to be darling! Lindy has a real knack with decorating, and should be proud of the cute home that she has created for our son! We will miss them... who would have thought that two of our children would end up in Texas? Nicole and Zach are about 4 1/2 hours away from them, so they should be able to get together from time to time! I think that makes everyone feel a little bit better! We have said: One more child in Texas... and we may have to make the move ourselves!

Tyler and Lindy's Big Move

Tyler accepted a new job in South Texas. He is in a town named Mission, which is located by McAllen. He will be a district manager for a cell company called: Two Brother's Communication. He is very excited, and we are excited for him. Being the great salesman that he is, we are confident that he will be successful! My sister's son Justin is going to be working with Tyler, so the two of them left Utah, with Tyler's car and the company car. The moving van followed with all of their belongings, Phil and I flew down a few days later, and Lindy and her her mom flew down the next day... with the 2 pet cats. All went well, except for the fact that Tyler's new car broke down somewhere in the desert and had to be towed back to New Mexico.... where it is still being worked on. Here are some of the memories from our journey.
No one got off easy! As you can see... no child labor laws here! Roman was very excited to help Bompa empty the truck!

Good luck finding your stuff Lin! Two mother's helping can be a challenge! Just kidding... we all pitched in, and the organizing wasn't too bad!

Nicole... dressed for some manual labor! Gotta look cute.
Lindy's job was to keep us... and hopefully her stuff on track! We only ended up with a few of their things in Justin's apartment, and vice versa!
Some of the boxes proved to be a two man job! Who made moving boxes this big anyway? Tyler and Justin didn't seem too much worse for the wear.

OH... Who's the man now? Is Zach showing them up by carrying this one by himself? I guess Law school might build muscles after all.

Justin and Tyler's bikes made the trip without a scratch! Good thing... or else they may have been crying like babies!

I think this was because Lindy's dad had them packed so well that an egg wouldn't have cracked! Thanks Mike!

All went well! Nothing was broken... and everything made it! Who could ask for more?
